Federal Agents Watched A Silent Black Triangle Rise Over A Secret U.S. Site — Then It Did Something No Jet Can Do

The sightings, involving so-called unidentified anomalous phenomena, have triggered fresh national security concerns among officials who remain unsure whether the objects originate from a foreign adversary or something else entirely. According to the New York Post, the redacted documents — released Friday under a Trump-era transparency initiative — detail multiple encounters over top-secret facilities where the United States tests cutting-edge military technology, though the precise locations and dates have been withheld for security reasons.

The black triangle incidents alarmed investigators not only because of the apparent sophistication of the craft, but also because they appeared directly above some of the most sensitive sites in the American defense network. Sketches included in the files depict a dark, triangular object hovering or maneuvering over a rugged, mountainous landscape, but officials released no photographs to accompany the drawings.

Observers reported that one such object traversed approximately 1.5 miles in three seconds — a speed equivalent to about 1,800 mph — according to an FBI report summarizing the encounter. Witnesses further noted that the craft emitted no audible sound, left no visible exhaust, and, when scanned with a thermal device, displayed a uniform heat signature rather than the concentrated hot spots typically associated with engines on conventional aircraft or drones.

The object moved “with speed the observers described to be as fast as a fighter jet,” according to the files, which were made public under the Trump administration’s Presidential Unsealing and Reporting System for UAP Encounters initiative. In a separate incident involving a similar triangular craft, a Department of War memorandum stated that “The exterior presented as a continuous (seamless), featureless surface lacking any discernible structural discontinuities, propulsive apertures, intake structures, aerodynamic control effectors, or cockpit features.”

Despite the extraordinary nature of the reports, the two principal witnesses in that case experienced no apparent physical side effects, the memo added. Officials recorded no complaints of “disorientation, nausea, headaches, memory gap, or other anomalous sensory phenomena,” suggesting that whatever these craft may be, they did not produce the physiological disturbances sometimes associated with other alleged close encounters.

Investigators have formally ruled out the possibility that the triangles are part of any known American black project, a conclusion that raises uncomfortable questions about who — or what — controls them. At the same time, there is deep skepticism that they belong to a foreign power, as no adversarial nation is publicly known to possess technology matching the performance and characteristics described in the files.

Friday’s disclosure represents the seventh batch of documents released to the public under the current declassification program, with additional tranches expected in the coming months, according to officials who briefed a small group of reporters on Thursday. The broader effort stems from President Trump’s pledge to move the federal government toward greater transparency, particularly on issues — like UFOs and UAPs — where public trust has been eroded by decades of secrecy and bureaucratic stonewalling.

Previous releases have cataloged a range of unexplained aerial encounters, but none of the material so far has provided conclusive evidence of extraterrestrial life or off-world technology. Still, the pattern of sightings near sensitive military infrastructure, combined with performance characteristics that defy conventional explanation, continues to fuel debate over whether Washington has underestimated the strategic implications of these phenomena.

The latest document dump also touches on more culturally sensational material, including files related to the History Channel reality series “Skinwalker Ranch.” The 512-acre property in Utah has long been promoted as a nexus for UFO sightings, livestock mutilations, and a grab bag of paranormal events that many in the scientific establishment dismiss, but which continue to attract serious — and taxpayer-funded — government attention.

According to the files, federal personnel collected hair samples from the ranch in 2010 after a rancher reported that a skinwalker had been seen on the property and his dogs chased the entity through a barbed-wire fence. The hair caught on the wire was retrieved and subjected to DNA analysis, underscoring that, despite public skepticism, officials were willing to apply forensic methods to investigate the claims.

Witnesses on the ranch described seeing a “black shadowy figure,” a recurring motif in the lore surrounding the site. Other accounts referenced “dog-like creatures running on two legs, unnatural animalistic howling/screaming, little people, prehistoric birds and a maggot which measured about 8-feet long,” a catalog of alleged phenomena that blurs the line between cryptozoology and spiritual folklore.

A skinwalker, in traditional Navajo belief, is understood to be a malevolent witch capable of assuming animal form, a concept that predates modern UFO culture by centuries. As of May 2010, officials had interviewed at least 25 individuals — including Native Americans in the region, local law enforcement, ranchers, members of the Mormon community, and the head of the local Fish and Wildlife office — in an effort to document these reports.

“All of them described first-hand encounters with a skinwalker,” the files note, a level of testimonial consistency that, at minimum, suggests a shared cultural experience that Washington’s bureaucrats have found impossible to ignore. The documents also address unexplained sightings near California’s Catalina Island and include a 1960s NASA paper advising the public on how to respond if they encounter fragments from space, a reminder that while the federal government often downplays such phenomena in public, it has quietly prepared for extraordinary contingencies for decades.
