Democrat Jamie Raskin Ties Elon Musk To ‘Rigged’ Asylum System—And The Backlash Is Brutal

During a recent appearance with MSNBC host Lawrence O’Donnell, Raskin launched into a sweeping denunciation of Musk, casting the South African-born CEO as an enemy of American ideals because of his alignment with President Donald Trump and the republican Party.

As reported by Western Journal, Musk’s political apostasy — his refusal to toe the Democratic line despite his immigrant background and technological success — has placed him squarely in the crosshairs of Democrats eager to reclaim the House and silence dissenting voices on major platforms such as X.

Raskin, a leading progressive voice in Congress, framed Musk as an ideological foreigner who never truly assimilated into what the left now brands as “real” American values.

“This sort of forbidden thought occurred to me, Lawrence, which was, he’s part of the Trump regime, which has denounced immigrants and reviles immigrants and so on. Well, he’s an immigrant, and he’s an immigrant who came in, who never really inhaled the real values of our country,” Raskin said.

The Maryland Democrat went further, tying Musk’s background to a broader, racially charged narrative about immigration policy and asylum.

“The reason why they’ve redesigned the whole asylum regime around him is because they want white Afrikaners, who are basically unreconstructed racists, to come over to our country,” he added.

Raskin then claimed that Musk has inspired a supposedly rigged asylum system that favors white South Africans while rejecting traditional constitutional principles.

“Those are the only people getting in under asylum. And that’s obviously inspired by Elon Musk. He’s got no real interest in the values of our country, in equal protection and due process and the First Amendment and representative government. And he’s said that.”

The attack reflects a broader pattern on the left: demonize high-profile defectors from the progressive narrative, especially those who control influential platforms and refuse to censor conservative viewpoints.

Musk, who built his fortune in the United States through Tesla, SpaceX, and now X, has become a particular obsession for Democrats who once celebrated tech titans — so long as they reliably funded and amplified liberal causes.

Raskin’s rhetoric did not go unnoticed by ordinary users on X, where many saw his comments as a deliberate attempt to inflame racial and political tensions ahead of key elections.

“In the lead-up to the upcoming midterms, we find ourselves witnessing another political moment that appears to be deliberately fostering division. Jamie Raskin and Lawrence O’Donnell have become vocal advocates for hatred and division, offering little substance in their arguments,” one poster wrote.

The same user argued that the modern left has effectively merged with its media allies, turning news outlets into partisan megaphones rather than neutral observers.

“Their actions primarily serve to create political drama, rather than engaging in meaningful discourse. It is concerning to observe the reaction of Elon Musk to this unfolding drama. It is evident that the Democrat-Communist-Socialist Party (MS Now) has become the press, serving as an arm of the Democratic Party in its efforts to regain power,” she posted.

She added that the timing and tone of the attacks reveal more about the left’s desperation than about Musk’s alleged sins.

“This development is particularly disheartening just before the midterms. MS Now is the worst but let the Clowns push their drama and lies – Disgusting in my view,” she added.

Another user, posting under the name Batalysta, contrasted Musk’s tangible contributions to American innovation and jobs with what he described as the parasitic behavior of career politicians.

“Elon Musk has done more for Americans than any of you freeloaders sitting in the house and senate.”

Musk himself signaled that he will not passively accept a new wave of partisan “investigations” should Democrats regain power and weaponize congressional oversight against him.

“Live by the sword, die by the sword,” Musk wrote in a post on X.

He warned that any political operatives who choose to target him should be prepared for a vigorous response that goes beyond surface-level theatrics.

“Those who pick fights with me should understand that I will find out who is really pulling the strings and come for them, not just their puppets,” he wrote.

The clash between Raskin and Musk underscores a deeper struggle over who defines American values: entrenched political elites and their media allies, or independent actors who challenge progressive orthodoxy and defend free expression.

As Democrats increasingly resort to racialized smears and apocalyptic rhetoric against their opponents, conservatives see in Musk’s defiance a rare willingness among business leaders to push back against ideological bullying and to expose the networks of power that seek to control public debate.
